‘Ho Boulomenous’ – “Anyone who wishes

Sports at Copenhagen International School (CIS) are vital for fostering social connections, encouraging healthy lifestyles, and building resilience through competition. CIS teams compete and travel for football, volleyball, swimming, track & field / cross-country and basketball.

As students engage in team sports and individual activities, they form friendships across grade levels and nationalities, strengthening the school’s international community. The competitive element in CIS sports enhances goal-setting and discipline, teaching students to handle challenges constructively. Additionally, sports offer valuable networking opportunities, connecting students with peers, coaches, and even local teams, enriching their social networks. Prioritizing physical health, CIS promotes lifelong wellness habits, recognizing sports as essential for both personal development and a balanced, active lifestyle.

Trips and Conferences

At Copenhagen International School (CIS), we believe in the power of experiential learning through trips and conferences. Our students have the opportunity to participate in various educational excursions that enhance their classroom experiences and foster personal growth.

CIS is proud to be a member of DISNAC, NORDIC, and NECIS, providing students with unique chances to engage in regional events, sports competitions, and cultural exchanges. These experiences promote teamwork, leadership, competition and cross-cultural understanding, allowing our students to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds while expanding their global perspective.

Home Events

Copenhagen International School (CIS) hosts a variety of exciting home events throughout the year, fostering community spirit and celebrating our students’ achievements.

Danish League
Our talented Hawks teams compete in the Danish League. These spirited matches not only showcase our athletes’ skills but also bring our community together to support our players.

Friendly games
We organise two annual friendly games during which CIS families welcome teams from other international schools and support them in friendly competitions that educate a healthy lifestyle and promote sportsmanship and champion behavior.

Hawks Celebration
The Hawks Celebration is a festive event dedicated to honouring all community members who contribute to the success of Student Life events: students, staff, coaches, parents and other volunteers . With awards, confetti and delicious treats, this celebration is a fantastic way to recognize the hard work and dedication of our Hawks community.

Team Practice

At Copenhagen International School (CIS), team practice is essential for developing both athletic skills and a strong sense of community among our students. Our practices focus on three key areas:

Team Behavior & Celebration
We cultivate champion behavior, respect, and collaboration are paramount. Team behavior is emphasized, ensuring that all members support one another and celebrate each other’s successes, both big and small. These values foster camaraderie and a shared commitment to excellence.

Skill Development
Our dedicated coaches focus on enhancing each athlete’s skills through targeted training sessions. Whether it’s refining techniques or developing new strategies, our practices are designed to challenge and inspire students, helping them reach their full potential in their chosen sports.

Competition Readiness
As students prepare for competitions, practices simulate game conditions to build confidence and teamwork. Our focus on competitive readiness equips our athletes with the mental and physical tools necessary to excel on the field or court. Together, we strive for success, embodying the spirit of the Hawks!

Student Assistant Coaches
We invite our high school students to step into the role of Assistant Coaches. This provides them opportunities to develop their leadership skills and forges student collaboration across grade levels. Through role modelling, and peer-2-peer learning, both our older and younger students learn and grow alongside each other. We also provide a formal coach education course in some sports for older students who wish to pursue becoming a coach.
