The Parent Teacher Association
The PTA’s mission is to establish a close relationship between home and school by offering ways for parents to get involved in the CIS community.
The PTA helps families, teachers, and students feel at home at CIS. Our goal is to build a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive community for everyone.
What we do
Welcome New Families
We always reach out to new families. We can connect them with a “buddy family” through our Buddy Program. Our Newcomers group also provides support and networking opportunities.
Social Events
We organize back-to-school gatherings for kids and parents, as well as parent socials during the year. These are great chances to meet new people, share experiences, and make friends.
Whole-School Events
Big highlights include our Activity Fair, Halloween Fest, Julemarked (Christmas Market), and International Festival. These events bring our community together in fun and meaningful ways.
Grade-Level Activities
Classroom parents and grade representatives support parent collaboration in the classroom, and help organize events and trips. They also present gifts to teachers to show our appreciation.
Special Interest Groups
Parents can join or start groups on the Classlist app. Find people from your part of the world in our country groups, or explore groups as diverse as yoga, padel, single parents, and career development.
Culture Initiatives
We celebrate our diverse cultural backgrounds, not just through our events like the International Festival, but also initiatives like the Culture Corner displays, which highlight key events and celebrations from around the world.
Smooth Transitions
Just as we host events to start the year, we always host an end of year coffee event. Together with the CIS team, we support those leaving the school, making sure every family feels supported and appreciated.
Get Involved
Every parent and teacher at CIS is already part of the PTA. You can join in by:
- Coming to events
- Helping with your grade/class
- Volunteering at one or two activities
- Taking on a bigger role in our team

Behind the Scenes
We use Classlist to share updates, events, and parent groups. We encourage positive and respectful communication there. We also keep in touch with the CIS Administration and Board, sharing feedback from parents and working together to support our community.
Note, the PTA is not a fundraising entity. Our Finance and Social Events teams do a great job balancing a budget each year, so we can run our activities smoothly.
The Team
