In Physical and Health Education students inquire about physical health, exercise and sport, as well as sexual health, mental health and nutrition. The curriculum focuses on the key concepts: development, systems, communication and relationships; all of which are explored through a combination of practical lessons in the sports hall, fitness room and teaching kitchen, as well as discussion lessons in the classroom.

In each unit, students complete a summative assessment task that addresses one or more of the subject’s objectives. These cover knowledge and understanding, planning, performing and reflection. In terms of activities, students will experience a variety of sports, such as gymnastics, volleyball, table tennis, badminton, football and basketball, as well as adapted games (seated volleyball and blind football), and fitness-based activities. Students are encouraged to think about their health in a holistic way, beyond physical fitness, through specific sessions on mental health and sexual health. These sessions are approached through open-ended discussions, mixing pair-work, small groups and full class guided conversation.
In Grade 10 Physical and Health Education, students inquire about their own physical, mental and sexual health and wellbeing, as well as the implications on a local and global scale. The curriculum focuses on the key concepts: development, connections, change and relationships; all of which are explored through a combination of practical lessons in the sports hall, fitness room and dance studio, as well as discussion lessons in the classroom.
