Grade placement

Grade placement at CIS is determined by the Primary and Secondary School Principals upon evaluating a combination of age, last Grade completed, previous school records, teacher / counsellor recommendations, testing, and information from parents.

In Primary School, age-appropriate placement takes priority.

CIS follows an August through June academic calendar. Students coming from a different school calendar (e.g. March to February) will be placed in the same Grade they are transferring from in February (the end of their academic year). This will result in a year and a half of attendance in the Grade they are in at the time of transfer.

E.g. Students transferring in February from the Korean education system, after completing Grade 6, will be placed in Grade 6 at CIS to also complete the year here in June (the end of the CIS academic year).

The 4 steps to apply to CIS

1. Book a tour

Moving to a new school is a daunting process for any family, but we’re on hand to support you from the beginning. Start by booking a tour of the school either online or in person with our admissions team. This is where you’ll get a chance to see if CIS is the right school environment for your child and to ask us any questions that you may have.

2. Submit an application

If you would like to join us at CIS, the next step is to submit an online application. You can find this on our website, or by contacting the admissions office. As part of the application process you will be asked to submit various documentation and pay an application fee of 3,000 DKK.

3. Application review

Once your application has been submitted, it will be reviewed by the Principals for your child(ren)’s grade. We will review each application holistically, taking into consideration all aspects that may affect your child(ren)’s experience here, for example, proficiency in English, learning support requirements, etc. We want to be sure we can provide the best possible experience for you and your child, and our review process is where we assess this.

4. Secure your place

The final step in the admissions process will be to accept or decline your offer. If you decide to accept an offer to join CIS, you will be asked to secure your place with a 30,000 DKK registration fee. Once this has been paid, you are officially registered and our admissions team will guide you step-by-step through the enrollment process.
