Application process

Please find below instructions for applying for a scholarship to Copenhagen International School for both external and internal candidates. There are three steps to the application process:

  • Application
  • Scholarship exams
  • Interview process for selected candidates

How to apply

Instructions for external candidates

Please complete the application form.

This is our standard application form and is not specific to scholarship applications. Therefore it is important that you indicate that you are a scholarship candidate. To do so, please write “Scholarship” followed by AE (for Academic Excellence), A (for Arts) or S (for Sustainability) in the field entitled “Preferred Name”. You may indicate more than one type of scholarship at this time.

The standard application form requires the following:
* Your two most recent report cards
* A completed Teacher questionnaire – this is e-mailed to your teacher as part of the application process, and the teacher’s answer is sent directly back to the Admissions department.
* The Subject Choice Form (Grades 9 – 10) or (IB DP)
* Enrollment Agreement
* Copy of passport
* The non-refundable mandatory application fee of 2,500 kr.

In addition to these documents which must be submitted as part of a standard application, we require several extra items of documents/information. The following items must be e-mailed to taj.mand@cis.dk, making it clear that they are in connection to your scholarship application.

* A personal statement explaining your reasons for applying for a scholarship (max 1 A4 page).
If applying for an Arts/Sustainability scholarship, please see the specific details below for the additional documents/materials required.

The deadline for the receipt of the completed application form and all accompanying documentation is 12:00 (noon) on Thursday, January 28, 2021. Absolutely no applications will be accepted beyond this date and time. Incomplete applications will be discarded after 12.00 (noon) on January 28, 2021.

Arts scholarship documentation:

Students applying for our Arts Scholarship are asked to submit a portfolio of their best work in either paper or electronic format. This portfolio can contain between three and five examples of the students’ best work. This should be accompanied by a brief essay commenting on each of the pieces, and explaining how the student feels s/he could contribute to the creative life of our school. At least one reference commenting on the student’s creative growth and potential should accompany the portfolio. 

 

Sustainability Scholarship

Students applying for our Sustainability Scholarship are asked to submit a portfolio demonstrating the work they have undertaken in support of environmental/sustainability issues in the two years prior to the scholarship applications. The portfolio can consist of paper or electronic material, and can be written or visual in nature. This should be accompanied by a brief essay commenting on the work undertaken, and explaining how the student feels s/he could contribute to the sustainable life of our school. At least one reference commenting on the student’s environmental/sustainable contributions should accompany the portfolio.

Instructions for internal candidates

Internal candidates should not fill out an application form.

The following documentation should be e-mailed to Taj.Mand@cis.dk, making it clear that you are applying for a scholarship and specifying the type of scholarship(s) being applied for.
