Primary school: Blossoming, learning about Japanese art

“The students made cherry blossom branches by using oil pastels and paint on cards," explains Alison, Primary School Art Teacher. "The students wrote in black pen and used lolly sticks to make the art piece look more like a Japanese scroll.”

In the photo, you can see Itsuki holding his sakura painting. After we'd seen the artworks, we interviewed him and his family about how they celebrate the cherry trees blossoming and learned more about other Japanese spring celebrations.
